Dr. Ralph Hartmann is a Director of the Kienbaum Management Consultants GmbH, in charge of its “Consumer Goods” section. 

His consultancy interests concentrate particularly on strategic considerations and the question of “operational excellence” in all commercial functions (questions of cost or growth) as well as the “holistic restructuring” of businesses.
Ralph Hartmann is based in Hamburg and Düsseldorf.

Before joining Kienbaum, Ralph Hartmann acted as Managing Director/CEO at the Karstadt Warenhaus GmbH, with responsibility for the company’s sports business.

Ralph Hartmann can look back on many years of active consultancy experience in the field. Prior to his line appointment at Karstadt, he worked as Managing Director at the American restructuring specialists ALIX Partners, with particular interest in the consumer goods and retail industry and responsibility for both domestic and international projects.

Before his time with ALIX Partners, Ralph Hartmann was a Managing Partner at the Droege & Comp. Internationale Unternehmer-Beratung GmbH, where he was responsible for the consumer goods and retail section and the “strategy, markets, and sales” functional practice. In addition to this, his duties included the management of the firm’s Hamburg offices.
As a product of his long-standing consultancy experience, Ralph Hartmann can rely on a broad range of experience in diverse projects or areas of work. His experience covers the entire spectrum from traditional SMBs to international corporations.
