The Gerhard and Lore Kienbaum Foundation

Gerhard Kienbaum and his wife Lore founded the “Gerhard and Lore Kienbaum Foundation” in 1994. The mission of the foundation is to study and support the German economy on a global scale and to improve the conditions for German enterprises. The foundation pursues its goals by promoting science, research, and young academics in economic subjects, concentrating in particular on support for top graduates and postgraduates. The board of trustees of the Gerhard and Lore Kienbaum Foundation is chaired by the son of its founder, Jochen Kienbaum.

Kienbaum Scholarship Award

Every year, the Kienbaum Scholarship Award honours excellent graduate dissertations in economic-technical subjects at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences / Gummersbach Campus. The award is intended to recognize top dissertations in business information technology and industrial engineering, but is also open to entries from other academic topics with economic relevance. The Kienbaum Scholarship Award is the brainchild of Jochen Kienbaum and Prof. Dr. em. Georg von Landsberg. The donors’ ambition was to support young academic talent in the region with a dedicated award. Learn more about the Kienbaum Scholarship Award here.

Kienbaum Connected

Several times per year, Kienbaum’s young consultants are invited to meet for a series of special events. Kienbaum Connected provides a forum for Assistant Consultants, Junior Consultants, and Consultants to meet and share their experiences. A series of events on different topics enables the young consultants to get to know and speak to each other across the boundaries of the organization. Promoting a team player mindset stands at the heart of all Kienbaum Connected events.

Our young consultants also show their social spirit in their community work: one example of their initiative was the “KICK!Start your Career” event, which brought together 40 students from local schools with 47 consultants for a football tournament and offered a great opportunity to talk about their future career plans. The “Intercultural Garden” project, in which Kienbaum’s consultants erected fences and planted trees with children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds, also offered a great opportunity to combine social commitment, networking, and interdisciplinary teamwork in a single and enjoyable event.

Artists’ Books

The Kienbaum Artists’ Books series was launched in 2007 by Jochen Kienbaum and the Schnoek publishing house. The unique series offers a twofold opportunity for the artists: each book in the series represents a unique artwork and offers as yet undiscovered talented artists a chance to raise their profile with the committed marketing support of Schnoek and the distribution of the books by Kienbaum that gives them access to large, new audiences.

The series offers artists an invaluable opportunity to showcase their works and to engage with groups and people with whom they would normally have little contact. They can present their talents without great financial risks and use the publicity for the purposes of their art. To date, the series includes books by the following artists: Thomas Zitzwitz (Moleskine orangée), Richard Allen Morris (It’s just a certain sound), David Reed (Rock Paper Scissors), Bernard Frize (The Invisibility Cloak), and Jorinde Voigt (Botanic Garden Code).
