We all have a potential and we can scale it up every day because of the challenges we face, the problems we solve, the choices we make, the opportunities we create, the experiences we live and the results we generate.

Human potential is related to doing what we like, in a unique way and that creates value for other people. When individual human potential is directed to organizations and creates outcomes that are relevant to customers and society, we have a powerful cycle that integrates development processes at the individual and organizational levels with value generation for the market as well as for the individuals, which fuels this virtuous cycle.

The cycle begins with Individual Human Potential: what is inside you and that can generate positive results. Individual Human Potential is leveraged by Human Potential in Organizations: a set of people with alignment of purposes and values that can generate collaborative positive results.

The Potential of the Organization creates the Market Potential: results generated by organizations that are relevant to customers and to society.

The potential is intangible and to develop it, I propose a modeling based on more than 20 years of consulting experience. The complete model is presented in my latest book: How to Turn Potential into Results.

People's potential will be calculated from the average Individual Human Potential Index of all people who provide services or work in the same organization and is directly related to people's interest in evolving.

Being:

  • INTEREST = Interest in evolving, taking on new challenges over time and making a more relevant contribution
  • PURPOSE = Alignment of individual purpose and values to organizational culture
  • CHALLENGES = Adaptation of the individual profile to the challenges of the organization
  • COMPETENCES = Domain of competencies and behaviors expected by the organization

The market potential is related to the relevance of the results generated. Thus, the greater the ability of organizations to deliver results that are relevant to customers and to society, the greater the market potential for that specific organization.

Being:

  • CAPACITY = Ability of the organization to generate results for clients and society
  • RELEVANCE = Relevance of the organization results for customers and society

In this approach, the total market potential is the sum of the potential of all the organizations that act or plan to act in that market.

Whatever the current results of the organization, it can be improved by ACTIONS to increase people's potential and market potential. Relevant results leverage the market potential of any business.
