DSV Group is a specialized solutions provider for Sparkassen as well as companies and associations of the Sparkassen finance group. It comprises the Deutsche Sparkassenverlag, its subsidiaries and participating companies, and generates revenues of around EUR 900 million (2016).
The Project
Beyond the product level, which has been the focus of digital endeavors for years, Deutsche Sparkassen Verlag is now confronting its entire corporate culture. Our goal was to effect a transformation from the usual hierarchical culture typical of savings banks into what is needed for digitization: a more cooperative and innovative culture with fewer hierarchical hurdles. The first task in this process was to develop a new understanding of executive culture and conduct. In an interactive Eigenland® session using a multi-sensory and intuitive approach, participants explored their perceptions and behaviors regarding day-to-day management issues at DSV to give shape to these through collective discussion and develop solutions for them. In sessions moderated by Kienbaum and the Eigenland experts, the 100 executives designed the future of DSV. In addition to the valuable meta-level impact of the introductory presentations, the executives gained important insights into their own routine actions. In a hands-on way, they formed a common image of how DSV executive culture is currently dealing with the challenges of a digital world. This activity generated numerous ideas and measures for successfully carrying out the process of development and transformation.
Aided by Kienbaum and the Eigenland® method, we were able to develop awareness and attitude among over 100 executives regarding our new (management) culture within the framework of digital transformation while concurrently defining, in a hands-on and highly efficient way, both the specific measures and concepts to be employed as we move ahead into the future as well as guidelines for our own conduct in that future.
